Painted as imitation marble veneer, whereas the lararium, on the right, was reported as being faced with real marble.

On the front of the base there is an impression of a round plaque in the plaster. 

This must have once decorated it.

According to Boyce, this was a rectangular niche, the sides of which were reported to have been originally covered with marble.
