According to Jashemski, two basins at the west end of the garden collected rain water from the neighbouring roofs.

This was for use in the dye-house installed in the area adjacent to the garden on the west.

The garden, which may have been used for drying the dyed fabric, had a hunt scene which was badly damaged at the time of excavation.
